Seasonal Marine Patrol Officer Job Opening
The City of Harbor Springs is accepting resumes from interested applicants for the position of Seasonal Marine Patrol Officer for the Harbor Springs Police Department. Applicants must be 21 years of age and either have High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be able to swim and operate a powerboat up to 25 feet in length. Applicants must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license.
Applicants should be comfortable working in a small, resort town in northern Michigan and providing Marine Patrol services with problem solving and a community oriented policing approach. Marine Patrol officers are expected to engage in daily patrols of the Harbor Springs Harbor as well as assist with calls of service in the Little Traverse Bay. This includes responding to calls for assistance for stranded boaters, investigating boat crashes, and enforcing Michigan Boating Laws. Applicants must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and present an excellent professional image. Applicants must pass a physical exam with drug test and a thorough background investigation in order to be considered for employment.
The wages for this position will range from $18 to $21 per hour depending on experience. This position will start near June 23rd and run through September 10th. Hours worked per week will range from 35 to 40 and could possibly be 7 days a week. This position will work in conjunction with the current Harbor Springs Marine Patrol Officer.
