Planning Commission
The City of Harbor Springs Planning Commission is responsible for the management of land use and regulation of building and development in the City. Meetings are held at 5:30 pm on the third Thursday of each month and may be cancelled if there is no actionable item. Meeting agendas and/or cancellations are posted on the City’s website and at City Hall. You can participate remotely via Zoom.
Members of the Planning Commission are appointed by the Mayor, confirmed by a majority vote of City Council, and serve three-year terms. Anyone interested in serving on the Commission is encouraged to contact the City Manager, a Member of City Council, or submit their interest in writing to: City of Harbor Springs, Attention City Council, 160 Zoll Street, Harbor Springs, MI 49740.
2025 Zoning Code Update
The Planning Commission is currently working on updating the zoning code. The following page will be updated with relevant information throughout the process.
- The following is a schedule of Commission meetings, town halls, and open houses where the zoning code update will be discussed: Combined Planning Commission Meeting, Town Hall and Open House Calendar (updated 1/25/2025).
- In November and December of 2024, the City conducted a survey on zoning code topics. The survey was distributed to 300+ individuals via e-mail, mailed to 250 random households, posted on social media, and advertised in the newspaper.
