POLICE OFFICER
CITY OF HARBOR SPRINGS
The City of Harbor Springs is accepting resumes from interested applicants for the position of Fulltime Police Officer for the Harbor Springs Police Department. All applicants must be licensed or licensable by MCOLES at the time of appointment. Applicants must be 21 years of age and either have an Associate’s Degree or the equivalent college credit hours from an accredited college or university. Applicants must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license.
Applicants should be comfortable working in a small, resort town in northern Michigan and providing police services with problem solving and a community oriented policing approach. Police officers are expected to engage in foot patrol, ride a bicycle, and operate a police boat, in addition to motor vehicle patrol. Applicants must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and present an excellent professional image. Applicants must pass a physical exam with drug test, a psychological exam, and a thorough background investigation in order to be considered for employment.
The current salary range is $46,280 to $62,795. The City offers a MERS Defined Benefit retirement program and optional packages that include health insurance, medical, dental, and optical. The Police Department operates on 12 hour shifts and provides ample Paid Time Off.
